Back home in New Fiddleham, Jackaby and Abigail are on their next case: Jenny's. The ghost is finally ready to face what happened to her when she died. As Jackaby and Abigail follow the trail of Jenny's past, they discover that this might be bigger than they ever imagined.

Okay, these books got SO much better after they stopped trying to mimic Sherlock Holmes. It was a cute idea, but it got a lot better when it branched outside of that. Though this is still technically a mystery, the focus is more about the characters and the world that they live in. It made the story ten times more interesting and much more entertaining. Plus, by this time, there is actually a lot of masterful build-up that you really want to know about. It answers some questions that have been hovering in your mind since book one. Once it let go of the hardcore mystery format, it became a great story in its own right, with interesting characters and a creative world.

Things to be Aware of:
- Violence ( there are a couple of fights, but none are very long and usually not very graphic)
- Gore (Some, but mild. There are several gruesome injuries and or deaths described, but they're usually not graphic)
-LGTBQ (An interesting new character that isn't stereotyped, at least, I thought it was handled well)
- Upsetting circumstances (since we're talking about them investigating the murder of a ghost, yes it's upsetting)
- Death (Death is talked a lot in this book, again because we're solving a mystery for a ghost. A few deaths, and sometimes in gruesome ways, but usually mild)

I LOVE THIS SERIES.

Can Book 4 come out now? Please?

I just... IT'S SO GOOD YOU GUYS. SO GOOD.
dark mysterious medium-paced

Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes

This series is wonderful.

The first half of this book was okay. The second half was absolutely painful. It made absolutely no sense and the writing was horrific. It was predictable and cheesy in the worst possible way. I had to force myself to read the last 100 pages all at once cause I knew if I put it down I wouldn’t pick it back up

There were also a lot of things thrown in this book that were completely unnecessary and made things much more confusing. Such as some of the authors political views, which I’m completely fine with if it is done well. Unfortunately this was not.

This really upsets me cause I really liked the first two books!! This one just stripped everything I liked about the first two away and left all the bad parts

I will still be finishing this series cause I have the tiniest sliver of hope that the last books will redeem this series for me

I've been a fan of the Jackaby series for years and having a preview of Ghostly Echoes was delightful! It was very interesting to see the different reactions Abigail and Jackaby have when it came to Jenny's case (especially where Jackaby is concerned) and the glimpse into the connected criminal case only served to make me anticipate the book's release even more.

I love this series so much, its become one of my very favorites :)

Another good installment in this series.

Cover: 4/5

Story: 4/5

I don't know why I feel like I love these books so much, but haven't given any of them a 5 star rating. The series and the world as a whole is what I love and I suppose I would give the series 5 stars.

This continuation of the story is just as interesting as the rest. My main loves remain the characters and the world they live in. The plots are definitely interesting and keep me guessing, but I'm in it for the characters. I loved how Jenny was more prominent in this one. I'm really not very good at writing reviews for sequels.

This is the third book in the Jackaby series and I loved getting back into the world of Jackaby and his strange cases. I really enjoy these books because they are fast paced but they also tie everything up nicely at the end.

This book focused on one character in his house, Jenny Cavannaugh. She is a ghost that inhabits the house and her murder never got solved. She enlists Jackaby to finally find out what happened. However, her old case gets entangled with a new case and it becomes a race to put a stop to the murders.

If you're interested in murder mysteries, a funny group of characters with an undercurrent of romance, definitely check out this book series.
