what an infuriating character (or rather caricature lol - as someone who was 17 on a MSC i'm like chomping at the bit to be like NOT ALL YOUNG PEOPLE), what a weirdly tragic book

This was extremely well done, but almost TOO real. It was uncomfortable and cringe-worthy at times.

 I expected to like this novel far more than I did. I found the characters childish, and petty and the writer herself seemed judgemental and whiney despite not making the effort to put things right. There was no redemption arc for anyone in the book and the church and community suffered for it.
