This book has had a major facelift and it was so good. I highly recommend this book.

ahhh the angst

3.5 stars. I see that the author revamped and re-edited the book in Jan 2019 (it originally came out in 2015), which makes sense to me because there are some elements of this book that feels like it came from a younger, fresher writer—Mary Sue-ish characters, instalove, mildly overdramatic bits, deus ex machine plot elements, etc.

This also contains my least favorite trope: the heroine is engaged to an obviously flawed and incompatible fiancee, meets/rekindles with the hero—who is OBVIOUSLY the better match—but the heroine waffles back and forth for a substantial chunk of the book on whether or not to go through with the engagement, either cheats on the fiancee or puts the engagement on hold with the idea that she'll go back to him at some point in the future, and ends up putting the hero through the ringer. I often feel like romance book heroes get more credit than they deserve, but something about this trope always makes me feel so bad for the hero, who doesn't deserve to be put the wringer like he does.

Overall a decent read and you can definitely see Emma Scott's potential as a writer, but nothing super special.

The beginning of this book had so much promise but then it just dragged and dragged. I couldn’t wait to be done. And be out of wish washy Alex’s Head. And it also boasts as having been re edited, yet it still had so many errors in it.

At the end of the day, I just stop the book at the middle.
The begining was great... Cory was a little too heroic, maybe. Alex was sweet... but it goes worst after. Gosh, I’m used to feel very emphatic toward the female characters in books, but here, it was impossible. Alex isn’t lovable at all. Her reactions pissed me off so often that I just decided to drop the book.
I’m very disapointed. :/

Another good book from this author. It was addictive and more angst than I thought. Both main characters have flaws but the writing was so good that I forgave and even understood their shortcomings. Their chemistry and sexy times were smokin' hot though. The author definitely knows how to write those scenes. Will definitely read more books from her - nicely done.
