adventurous dark mysterious fast-paced

I really never read this book. However, I'm glad that I did. I might not of gotten the references that are in this book, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of this book. I will be looking forward to reading the second book.

this book was great. A lot of people say that this book isn't all that good and that you just have to push through to get to the better dark tower entries, I can sort of see why people think that because there is a lot of flashbacks and a lot less action but I still loved it because the character of Roland was so interesting and mysterious and throughout the book we see more and more of who he is as a person and the other characters were also great. My one critique was that there was a lot of buildup and not a lot of payoff. this is a must read for people who like fantasy's, or westerns.

This book was interesting but it took me a lot longer than I would have liked to get invested. The story felt very disjointed and as if it had no direction. I don’t think I’ll continue the series, I don’t love the worldbuilding style in it.

I got through it, not why it is awesome ore even great

i’m glad i read a revised edition with an intro by stephen king himself otherwise i think i would have been disappointed - he made it very clear this was a very early work of his and he’s aware of its shortcomings! having said that, it was still enjoyable and the end had me hooked, i would definitely read the rest of the series which apparently only improves as king does :-))

I honestly did not recall that I had finished this book apparently eight years ago? I really enjoy

King,

but

I’ve
 never read the dark

series.

It
was originally recommended to me in high school back in the 90s by one of my teachers and I started reading it and I just found it so boring. So I didn’t pick it back up again until

later

and

I

don’t

remember

finishing

it
. So this time I needed an audiobook for a random drive so I grabbed it from Libby and I thought I’ll give it a good try this time and I just got so bored. So I turned it off again. I think this is the last time.

Definitely want to try to read the other installments in the series. I’m not typically into sci-fi or fantasy but this may have changed my mind.

I have picked this book up THAT many times and never gotten very far. Time to let it go.

... And wondered again, with despair, where the honor and nobility was. He had been taught of such things, and was now forced to wonder if they had been lies all along, or only treasures buried deep by the wise.

Only equals speak the truth, that's my thought on't. Friends and lovers lie endlessly, caught in the web of regard. How tiresome!
