I devoured Shift in a day. I got this book as an ARC from the author in exchange of an honest review. I had loved the author's previous book so I was looking forward to reading this one.

Though when I received the book and realized it was a werewolf novel, I'd felt very disappointed. Recently, I've encountered way too many badly written werewolf novels, and I'd kinda lost faith in werewolf novels.

But as I started reading Shift, I realized that it was so much better. First off, it wasn't all about romance. There was also a keep you on your toes mystery that made the story worthwhile.

To make it even more better, the lead female was NOT a weakling who falls desperately in love with the big bad alpha. She's an independent chic and a lawyer at that and does not let other people overrule her. I loved her!

Considering I devoured it in a day, you can probably imagine just how unputdownable this novel was. If you like Paranormal stuff, you'll definitely love this one!

Elizabeth Montgomery is a criminal lawyer and she has worked hard to get where she is today, after all her hard work she has finally decided to take a vacation, a hiking trip in the mountains in North Carolina. Things do not go to plan though and she doesn't even get to spend one night in the beautiful secluded cabin she has booked.

After taking an evening hike in the woods, Elizabeth is the victim of a vicious animal attack, or so she thought. When Elizabeth is rescued by a handsome stranger name Abraham her whole life is turned upside down forever.

Its been awhile since I've read a werewolf book as I started to find them a bit all the same. This book, however, had me totally hooked from the very beginning. I couldn't put it down, fantastically written with wonderful characters and overall brilliantly written.

Be prepared to be up all night when reading this book, because I know I was. It kept me on the edge of my seat desperate to know what was going to happen next. I was also desperate to know if Elizabeth and Abraham were going to end up together and if Elizabeth could survive the change.

I cannot wait to read the rest of the series, I will most definitely be reading the next book and anything else Heather MacKinnon brings out. Another author and series that have found their way into my favourites category for 2018.

Thank You to the author for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The very beginning it is remarkably interesting, the middle is boring, and the ending is back to interesting. What kept me reading was that Elizabeth is a cat-loving, career-minded attorney, smart, and mentally strong who is written in a realistic way with her own issues to overcome. Abraham, though let’s be honest his nickname is ridiculous, is a male alpha to the core. Protective, loving, kind, and romantic and with a family of sisters that are a handful plus his pack.
After a remarkably interesting beginning, we get stuck with a boring middle. There is a lot of detail about the most monotonous things. From eating to choosing what clothes to wear. The romance is a bit boring since it is made clear that they are meant to be together. The serial killer mystery is pretty much forgotten about and there is no resolution. But the world was thought out and all the characters have been well developed. Elizabeth and how she deals with physical changes and accepting the family-oriented pack mentality is the focus.
The ending is Elizabeth during her first shift and a sort of acceptance. How that is written throws us right back into the interesting category. So, if you can manage through the middle you will find an interesting book. My suggestion is to borrow it before buying it.

Interesting story.
The beginning is so rushed, and the mfc just easily accepts what should be wild things and changes in her life with ease, simply to move the story along. The writing was a bit immature, but I was able to overlook it to enjoy the storyline. We get a HFN, but there is something unresolved that may make you want to read the next in the series.

Slow, boring, overlong with a lot of unnecessary filler scenes. The alpha wolf is a dull cinnamon roll. Nothing really happens
