Can I please be friends with Tillie Walden pls pls pls

Wow I feel this so hard, when you've dedicated almost your whole life to something and then you let it go. For me it was classical piano: the exams, the endless practices, the recitals, the smell of the rooms, the self-talk during playing, the perfectionism and the validation of being finally good at something, all of it is so visceral still. It is beautiful when there's a feeling or narrative you've had for so long and it never makes sense when it comes out of your mouth but then you find a book and they get it. Someone understands. Thank you Tillie.

The book lacks momentum and is overly long, with repetitive skating routines and minimal character development. Despite interesting subject matter, the pacing is inconsistent, and Tillie's brief relationship receives little attention. The focus on trivial matters contrasts with the superficial treatment of important themes such as sexual assault and homophobia. The overall tone is detached and apathetic.
