This book shows all the struggles that are happening in her life, coming out, school, orchestra, and figure skating. All while having to keep everything balanced. I think this a great book that goes deep into the feelings of a young girl and really shows lots of different moments and feelings that are happing. 🤍

i love graphic novels and i think all tillie walden’s work exemplifies why for me. in the author’s note she says this memoir was more about sharing a feeling than memories and that came across so well - i got completely pulled into to the mood and connected really strongly with a lot of it (read this at kind of a perfect time wrt to some feelings i’m working out irl :,))

Amazing, as always with Tillie Walden. The art is gorgeous and the story is really nice. It feels relatable even though it's nowhere close to what you might have experienced. It leaves you feeling a kind of sad but soft melancholy for the past, with hope that the future might be bright. It's about the struggle of finding and accepting yourself, having to exist under the gaze of others and trying not to drown, acknowledging the little things that make everything else more bearable. Maybe if we keep putting one foot after the other, day by day, we'll reach peace eventually.
