Easily one of the best graphic novels and memoirs of all time. An emotional, tense, and dark coming of age story tethered to Walden's history as a figure skater. This is a book that makes you lie down and stare into space for an hour after you've finished it. Walden's art, her composition and use of a strong, simple style, make each moment even more impactful. Do NOT miss this one.

This book shows all the struggles that are happening in her life, coming out, school, orchestra, and figure skating. All while having to keep everything balanced. I think this a great book that goes deep into the feelings of a young girl and really shows lots of different moments and feelings that are happing. 🤍

Tillie Walden is such a talented writer and artist, and I was happy to read this memoir to learn more about her journey after enjoying her other works. "Spinning" takes us through the world of ice skating, Walden's coming out story, and the tumultuous time of being a teenager with responsibilities constantly pulling you in different directions. It's an emotional and poignant read that I highly recommend.
