I still can't believe after all these years Shay came back with the much requested addition to Transcendence! I read this in about a 30-minute sitting and loved every moment of it all. It was a fun, quick read that re-did the main areas of Transcendence in Beth's POV. I enjoyed seeing what was going through her head when she first arrived in the past.

The breaking of the plate, which I recall in Transcendence as not being a huge part, was very integral in this book and for Beth's character. It was the moment that Beth knew that she would spend her whole life there with him. It was also the moment when she fully makes the choice to stay with him (despite at the time, she didn't have much of a chance.

What was not in the novella that I would have liked to see was the scene of her birthing her first child. Or even her second for that matter. But mainly the first. Since it was such a difficult time for her in Transcendence, and more so, because there was so much emphasis in this novella about her calculating her period and trying to avoid pregnancy. Instead she figured out she was pregnant and then a large jump to when they're in the cave with the son, their second child, long after her father came the first time and took her.

Overall, still such a great read. I cried...again. I just can't read this story without doing so. It makes me want to reread Transcendence!

We go back to the beginning of Beh & Ehd's story, but this time we get her POV, though, expedited.

*NOTE* Read Transcendence first to avoid major spoilers.

I enjoyed this novella because even though we go back and do it all over again, it's all new insight that provides context to the first story, we get to know Beh better, and she's so great, and it's so short and simple. I waited over a year almost to read this, only because I was so traumatized over the first book's ending (which is NOT bad, I'm just a lil B* and cried for three days) - anyways, I was dumb and should've read this immediately.

Bonus - Ehd sounds even more hot from Beh's POV. Just saying.

I was so, so disappointed in this novella. For a start its not as long as claimed, a heap of the end is actually advertising for other books by the author.
We had a few nice explanations of things from Beh's POV alongside being able to see Ehd through her eyes a few times but these points were the only saving grace of the story. There was so many missed opportunities, the moments that were chosen were disjointed and odd picks from the storyline of Ehd's book.
The whole thing felt like the effort put in was miniscule compared to the first book and I honestly would have preferred to have just stuck with the first book and left it at that.

This was the perfect follow-up to Transcendence. It answered every remaining question I had & gave me exactly the insight I needed to appreciate Transcendence even more.

A 3.5

I previously read the original book which is in Ehd's perspective. I was left with some unanswered questions and all of them are answered in this one.

It was great reading about these two again.

Luffs is a beautiful addition to Transcendence which I really loved. It was nice to read about Ehd and Beh again through Beh's eyes. I think this novella is a great gift to fans of Transcendence. I have to admit that a couple of scenes brought tears to my eyes, but overall it was light and fun.

After finishing 'Transcendence' I immediately had to read this novella from Beh's POV. In my review of 'Transcendence' I mentioned that keeping it exclusively from Ehd positively worked for the narrative and it's even more solidified for me after finishing this.

The POV from Beh makes the story and tone completely different, a lot heavier, but also sexier. It blew my mind to find out some parts from Elizabeth that were not explained in the first book, but reading it back to back after that ending reduced me to tears.

Shay Savage's authors note mentioned how she didn't think it was totally necessary to write this novella, but I think it completed and wrapped up their entire love story for me:

*Spoilers* I wasn't completely sure how Beh felt about Ehd the entire time, but knowing that she loved him almost instantly too and how she knew she would die in this timeline, and still chose to stay with him was exquisite.

Reading this will make you fall in love with them all over again.
