I enjoyed this one a heck of a lot more than book 2! It seemed to flow better and got straight to the plot which I loved. I also liked the focus of the story being about gaining alliances and how they turned out - keen to read book 4 now!

I didn't do my nest ro give this book its best chance. I got distracted and don't really remember the beginning because it was a bit slow. I was expecting her to struggle a bit more with the dark power but that wasn't the case. The other character interactions were good though. I'm really enjoying the family dynamic. It feels natural at not toxic at all. The elves were cool, but seemed similar to the humans.

This third book was better than book two in the series. It had more spice and less “fade to black” scenes. It’s def still just a filler book like book two; building the plot up for something bigger. This book was a little more political with trying to form alliances and figure out who to trust. Nice big ole bomb drop at the end has me intrigued for what’s to come in the next book.
the first two books in this series were SO captivating but this one… missed the mark. i almost dnfed several times but the side characters and the political plot kept me intrigued. i can only read so many books about the same two MCs getting separated from one another and fighting their way back together… and that happened like 5 times in this book alone. i love a good trope but maybe once or twice is enough. eh
i’m going to read the next book but i’ll jump ship real fast if i gotta

This was meh. I tried really hard to pay attention, but I just wasn't impressed with the writing style and the way the plot of these books is laid out. There's a lot of book for how little actually happened, and it feels too formulaic (last book was all focused on a certain character and his relationship with Cas, and then big things happen, and the same happens in this book as well) and I think it would feel more natural and less choppy if the relationships developed more evenly throughout each book. I don't know if I'm describing it well enough but it just felt off when reading. Also there's no audiobook out for the next book, and I'm not interested enough in the story anymore to really push myself to read a 500 page ebook so we'll be taking a break now.
Didn’t get very far because I started reading Throne of Glass but I plan to go back and finish it
