I love a good, sweet YA romance...especially friends to lovers.
Things I loved:
*** Becks devotion to Sal
*** Sal being proud of being a self-proclaimed 'geek'.
*** a fake romance
Things I didn't love:
* Sal's mom and Hooker are totally out of line. They continue to set her up with someone despite that she has told them no, time after time.

My rating started with 4 starts because it was very entertaining and cute. But I retracted a star for the constant "I'M nOt lIKe oThEr gIrls", because yeah being quirky is cute and "dork" is literally in the title, but why does she constantly feel the need to put other girls down? She acts like not putting on makeup is a (positive) personality trait lol.
(And she acts like liking Harry Potter and star trek makes her "such a dork" but those are one of the most popular franchises for a reason. If the author really wanted to make her a nerd or whatever, at least try harder)
That also correlates with the ridiculously over the top mean girls. Together with the CONSTANT slut-shaming made me retract another star.
Her love interest is described multiple times as a "player" with a love for girls, while those girls who love him are "sluts", "sleezies" and "skanks". Aha SurE, lovE that -_-.
The "mean girl" trope has been over-done since the beginning of time. Maybe you disagree for holding it up to 2020 standards but it isn't like this wasn't bad 4 years ago. I can overlook the cliches but not the harmful tropes.
Not in this household.

OH I loved it. I needed this book in my life. So sweet. So good. Such a rom com.

I have had this book on my TBR forever!
I am the biggest sucker for YA romance.
Sal and Becks were just adorkable perfection.
I love First love stories and those moments of realization between two
characters that there is a potential for more. <3 Teenage Angst
The families are hilarious. I was actually laughing out loud at some parts.
And I'm so glad that I waited to read this because there is bonus content in the
paperbacks. :)

This book was super cute and easy to read. I love how adorably geeky Sal was. She reminds me of one of my best friends. I'm rating this a 4 because as much as I really liked it, it was predictable. If you are looking for a cute, fun read, this is the book for you.
3.5
Somewhere in the middle of the book I thought about how much I like this story and how much I want to know what else this author's got. Boy, was I surprized to see this is this authors debut.
Keep on writing, because I for sure will be reading!
