I started reading Jill Shalvis books before I even knew what a book blog was! Her Lucky Harbor series started my non-stop reading and she's still one of my go to authors. Her writing is witty, emotional, sexy, sweet, fun and real. You easily fall for her characters and become invested in their lives immediately while you're trying to pick which character you want to start in the next book. To say that I was excited about a new series just sounds silly. I'm a sucker for second chance romance and this was the perfect story. Lily left Cedar Ridge after tragedy struck her family and hasn't been back in ten years. After losing her job and needing work, she ends up back home and face to face with Aidan, the love she left behind. Aidan is a sexy as sin Search and Rescue worker and fireman. What's hotter than that? NOTHING! He's sweet and hot and saving people is just in his genes. Lily doesn't need to be saved, but it keeps happening. She's trying to fight her feelings for him, but his sexy eyes and amazing body won't let her say no. Aidan is open about his feelings but Lily is running from hers. Can Lily get over her past before she loses Aidan again? Will Aiden wait for Lily to admit her feelings? I loved this story. The perfect mix of sexy, sweet, funny and suspenseful. I can't wait for the next one!
If you're looking for something bad for you, try me instead.
"You don't trust yourself around me," he said, sounding way too pleased with himself.
"I trust myself just fine," she said. "It's you I don't trust."
He laughed, looking smug and…damn. Hot. Extremely hot.
"You're right. There's nothing between us. Nothing by heat and fire and crazy need."
"On a scale to one to goatfuck, how stubborn are you going to be about this?" Hudson asked.
Aidan just gave him a hard look.
"So goatfuck then," his brother muttered. "Perfect."

The second in my undemanding contemporary romance binges whilst in labour/early postnatal days, this book was a fun distraction but probably fair to say it's quite forgettable. I do love Jill Shalvis's flair for supporting casts populated with eccentric souls though, and I was devastated to realise that Penny and Gray don't have a book already, they are just established and loving from the start. Sorry Aidan and Lily, but I would ditch you for Penny and Gray in a heartbeat.

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed reading Jill Shalvis romance books, so I am glad I was prompted to pick this up from my TBR.
Set in Colarado, the nature writing sections just made me want to pack my bags and visit immediately and the romance writing well that was fab too.
Lily is returning to her home town after 10 years away, she doesn't really want to be back as it brings back too many memories of her sister who died, but maybe Aidan, her one time fling could help her see the beauty of the area and why she should stay.
Second chance romance isn't necessarily my thing, but I really enjoyed this one. Told in dual POV is my favourite as you get to see both sides of the story.
Looking forward to reading the next one in the trilogy.

Oh my goodness!! Super excited to have had the opportunity to meet Ms. Shalvis at BookCon this year!! The icing on the cake was this new book series. I'm not going to go into a mini blurb about what happens in the book. You can get that by reading the synopsis. I will say that I have read A LOT of books and I like to think that I have read the majority of the books Jill Shalvis has written (though I'm conceding that I might have missed a few!) but I absolutely adore this book. I love all of the laugh out loud moments followed up by that feeling of awe where you just want to give the character a big old hug!! Definitely a great start to a new series! If you haven't read it yet, what are you waiting for?! GO!!! Don't walk, RUN!!!!
Audio was great. Give me more Aiden. Yummy to my toes.
This was such a great read. A sweet, feel good story and it just made me happy! It was funny and heartfelt with likable characters that had a wonderful connection.
I got a good feel for the story right away and liked both Lily and Aidan immediately. I liked that push and pull they had on each other, it made for some really nice chemistry. There was a wonderful build to their relationship and I enjoyed how it all played out. They are both such sweet people that love and care with all their hearts but they are also both super stubborn so it made for some entertaining interactions. I loved watching their bickering stumble over into more heated times.
Aidain's family was great! I loved their interactions and good natured ribbing. They made me smile. They have a sad back story but I loved how they came together and formed their family unit and were so full of unconditional love. They gave me a few great laugh out loud moments. I also really liked Lily’s friend Jonathan, he provided some funny moments as well.
I thought this story had a steady pace with really good development. I felt it was a light read, not to intense but sweet with bits of emotion and super entertaining. It's definitely a feel good story that leaves you smiling at the end.

Cedar Ridge, Colorado is where firefighter Aiden Kincaid has always lived and helped to run the family resort. And then there is hairstylist Lilly Danville who is returning home after 10 years of being away from the only place she’s ever called home, yet the only place that holds her deepest fears, regrets, and sadness. Their stories intertwine in the most interesting of ways to make this a quick and fun read!
My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2015/06/review-second-chance-summer-by-jill.html
Get ready to fall in love with the Kincaid family! Jill Shalvis’s Second Chance Summer is sensual, fun, and will leave you salivating for the next Cedar Ridge story.
Aidan is a firefighter, works Search and Rescue, and also helps manage his family’s resort. The man is sexy as hell and a rescuer through and through. He’s also completely head-over-heels for Lily, and has been for years. She’s the one woman he could never forget and now that she’s back in town, he’s not about to let her slip through his fingers a second time. Lily is far more gun-shy than Aidan. Tragedy made her flee Cedar Ridge years ago and she only plans to come back until she can find a job elsewhere. Falling for Aidan – again – is not something she wants, but it’s inevitable. The two of them have fantastic chemistry and it’s easy to see that they’re made for each other. Their love story has all the heat, humor, and heart I’ve come to expect from Ms. Shalvis’s romances and I can’t count the number of times Lily and Aidan made me smile. Their pasts have done a number on them, but watching them heal as they fall in love is part of what makes Second Chance Summer so engaging.
Romance aside, the entire Kincaid crew will grab your heart and make you want to move to Cedar Ridge. Aidan and his siblings bicker and tease, and their hijinks are sure to make readers laugh. But most importantly, every single one of them has the others’ backs, and the love they all have for each other is one of the highlights of Second Chance Summer. There’s a lot to love about Ms. Shalvis’s new world of Cedar Ridge, and I know I’ll be revisiting Aidan and Lily multiple times as I await Hudson Kincaid’s book, My Kind of Wonderful.
