This features - hands down - the most horrid main character I've ever had to endure in a book. Ever! I HATED Cissy. HATED!!!! I wanted the killer to finish her off. She was HORRIBLE.
Did I mention how much I hated Cissy?!? Oh my God, she was awful. Stuck-up, snotty, entitled, belligerent, irrational....you name it!

Definitely one of Lisa Jackson's best books, in my opinion. I love it when she plays games with my book about who's behind the crimes! Her books are always leaving me intrigued!

This is probably one of my least favorite from Lisa Jackson. I'd love to use the pizza analogy here: bad pizza is still pizza. The book was just okay and I guess I felt.. neutral. Not really excited about it, but also not feeling so negatively toward it that I couldn't keep reading.
Our main character, Cissy, is very unlikable. Her husband isn't much better... and hell, dare I say that even her baby is irritating. Given that the story's sole focus is on Cissy and her bloodline, it makes the entire book as a whole much less enjoyable. I had a hard time getting past the characters to try and enjoy other aspects.
The twists weren't bad and neither was the ending. Kind of liked the main antagonist. No loose ends or cliffhangers to end on, considering that this is right in the middle of a trilogy. I didn't realize this and honestly thought it was a stand-alone title. I'm not intrigued enough by either the plot or the characters to delve deeper into the trilogy.
2.5 stars, rounded to 3. If you're a fan of Lisa Jackson, I say skip this one. This is certainly not some of her best work.

Granted, this is not my usual genre, but I still found it impossible to get into. It was so boring; even the first murder was blah. And the narrator did nothing to help, i found her voice grating, and her attempt at male voices was comedic.

Almost Dead
3.5 Stars
A good plot with some interesting twists and turns, especially the revelation at the end.
The characters are where the book falls short. Jack and Cissy are not that likable as their constant bickering is a turnoff and their romance is lacking.
