Wow. Im impressed.
I didn't expect to love thuan as much as i did.

I already had a niggling interest in Asmodeus but i must say he's my favorite in spite of his flaws.

Madeline is a less irritating Character now. Im proud of her and her growth.

Did not give a fuck about philippe, he's always irritated me. But i am glad he found his happy ending.

All in all this book exceeded my expectations which were brought low due to book 1.

The conclusion was satisfactory.
Some twists i didn't expect.

Looking forward to reading more works by this author.

Also i love Asmodeus. Did i mention i love Asmodeus? More Asmodeus in the next book please. Especially his relationship with thuan. Here's hoping...

It's been a while since I read the first one, so I was a little disappointed at the lack of recap of what happened in the first book. That may be why I didn't like it, or maybe it really was as boring as I thought. I just couldn't make myself care what happened to anyone, so there was no tension for me. And the characters are so lacking that the tension is really all that holds this book together. The world that de Bodard has built is really fantastic, but the show she has put on inside it is disappointing.

I definitely enjoyed this sequel to House of Shattered Wings much more than the aforementioned book. The pacing was much better, and the characters felt more well-rounded and developed. Much of the plot is fairly telegraphed, however, with few surprises, and the prose ultimately left me cold.

beautiful writing and interesting multi-faceted characters. Asmodeus is someone I like to hate and Thuan is my baby
