I enjoyed this book very much! Start with the introduction, as it is fascinating! Mari Sandov was truly an amazing woman traveling and researching as a young lady in the early 1900's. I found out that there were many female researchers and writers documenting the history of the native tribes during the late 1800's and early 1900's. My hat is off to them! Ms. Sandov does an excellent job telling the tragic story of Crazy Horse and the Lakota tribes from THEIR point of view. This book is a rare treasure!

This book follows Crazy Horse, the infamous leader in the Battle of Little Bighorn. (Though the book discusses way more than just the Battle) The book covers his entire life from childhood, all the way through the end. The story is one of controversy, of love, of leadership, and what it meant to be a Native American at the time.

This story will inhabit your dreams, likely in equally beautiful and terrifying ways. The language is lyrical and it took me a while to adjust my ear to it, but once I did, the story really flowed.

The tale itself is one of the great human tragedies. While there are many moments of love, compassion and wisdom, the injustices visited upon this man and these people break the heart.
