This lost a star because of the length/where it cut off! What the heck! I thought I was being punk'd or something I swear to gods I was looking for the hidden cameras.
That said I'm honestly surprised at some of the reviews criticizing this book because it's amazing for what it is: a lightly smutty, well written, dystopian-ish romance. Is it a little trope-y/predictable? Yeah. But I've been reading this genre for ~15 years so does that speak to why some of it was expected? Absolutely.
I've read books of the same premise/concept and YIKES so coming from those this one was great and worth the read I blasted through in one sitting.

Initially loved how the series started, but I think it could have used another book to wrap it up nicely. Having a super monarch dystopia is fascinating, and deserved a more fleshed out ending. I also really wanted a full redemption arc for Alex, the first villain, (reaaally wanted him in on the RH at the end tbh) and I feel like the authors toyed with the idea but ultimately tossed it. :(
Side note, the idea of changing all the countries to mega powers like “New America” and “Australasia” while also keeping Denmark its own country cracked me up. What kind of dystopia…??
LGBTQ rep: I loved the two bi characters, but I was sad they didn’t really get their own HEA. Also wish that the authors just went all in and made it a RH book instead of the tap dancing triangle it ended up being.

It is one of the first kind of like adult romance that I found not cringe-worthy at all!!! It was just the right amount of sexy, smart, entertaining, funny and dark!!!

These Authors are new to me. First, when I started reading, I thought I landed in some fantasy book, but no not really. It’s written so interesting and secrets are revealed, more are being kept, which totally makes you want to read more and more!!
I love the writing, the suspense, the sassy ness, the insults thrown. Really good. Can’t wait for the next book!!!
