I've been on somewhat of a reverse harem binge. I'm coming hot off the heels of some of my favorite books in the last year and had super high hopes for this book. This book did check a lot of the boxes that I look for in a story. Impoverished foster care kid gets the chance to attend the most prestigious university in the world? It sounds like a dream. Strong female main character? Yep, Violet definitely fits the bill. Smoldering Princes who are dropping panties where ever they look? Holy moly, yes. I could not help but fall in love in all the characters. The relationship between Violet and Mattie is perfect. When Mattie was first introduced, I thought for sure we were meeting our antagonist. The fact that she wasn't was pleasantly surprising. We did not have to watch Violet fight for friendship with someone which is refreshing in a genre where there is so much discord between characters. Definitely recommend picking up this book, blocking out some hours in your schedule, and getting lost in the Switzerlands.
Effing Amazing

A dystopian college romance with some delightful twists and surprises. A strong start to the series.
I have no other way to say this but this book is terrible. This book is really, really bad. The only compliment I have for this book is that the cover is really pretty but that's it. I thought this book would be a fun romance book but it's not. It's just a terrible. I really have no other words for this book. It is terrible. How does this book have a 4.36 star rating on goodreads?
The Princess Ballot tells the story of Violet Spencer. Violet wins the Princess Ballot, a scholarship to the Arbon Academy. The prestigious school for royals. However, Arbon Academy is place of dark politics and dangerous men. Violet soon finds herself caught between Rafe, the Prince of the Switzerland, and Alex, Prince of the Australasias. (And no not Austria like I orginally thought. Australia. Like Australia with the Koala Bears) And then the drama ensures.
Where do I even begin with this book? There is so many things that are wrong with this book. Let's start with the genre. This book is marketed as a dark college romance. But the book is aslo set in the future. Yes, folks. The future. A future where every country has a royal monarch (Alex is the Prince of Australia) and they all communicate through apple watches. Yes, it's that kind of future. I think this book would be way better if it wasn't set in the future. Like this is a unnesscary detail. And it didn't really add anything to plot except explain why every country has a king. And the Princess Ballot didn't even do a good job at explain the history of this world either.
My second problem with this book are the love interest. Rafe & Alex are beyond annoying. If
They show very few emotions other than angry and wanting to get laid. Also Why do people think guys being cold and rude to girls is attractive? It's not. It's called being a jerk. Not romantic. This book has a disclaimer that says these books are a**holes and they are. However, if you are going to write a hate to love story, then you should at least give this a**holes redeeming qualities. Also, none of this characters felt like real people to me. They all felt like talking book tropes. They didn't feel original nor did I connect with any of them.

I hedged on reading this, as I saw somewhere that it was a Love Triangle and I HATE that trope.... but considering the authors, I caved. Those two can write a menu and I would 5 star it. Anyway, I was relieved to see that it's not a love triangle, at least not the way you normally think of one. It's... complicated, in the best way possible.
When Violet is 'randomly' chosen to attend the prestigious Arbon Academy, Violet's life is radically changed by the glitz, glamour and danger of the hallowed halls. In wars past, the Democratic system so many nations hailed, crumbled, leading to the rise and expansion of Monarchies the world over. Now, Royals rule every nation and land, and their heirs need somewhere to train... privately, discreetly and completely. Arbon Academy. The very place a know nothing, faceless and nameless orphan has now found herself. Let the games begin....
This is everything you would expect from a Tate James and Jaymin Eve mash up, and then some. Fast, romantic and thoroughly twisted, it smacks across the page and leaves you guessing. There is so much more going on here that Violet suspects, but by the final page, she's starting to get a clue, and so is the reader. 5 stars.

The book was ok, about halfway through it was great... but it took a while to get into it.
Once i kind of got what was going on, it was really interesting, Im not sure what Rafe is all about and that ending... i did not see that happening!

Omg, omg, omg!!! This book. This book. Gah!!!
If it wasn't obvious yet, yes, I'm bumbling like a complete idiot here because this book blew me the fuck away. What the fuck was that ending? I need to have the next book right now. I need my Rafe's fix right this second. Gahhh!!!
Seriously, you guys, I started this book without breaks at all because the story itself will keep you hook from start to finish. The entitled boys of this series will drive you mad with hate or love or both, at the same time. Violet is one tough chick, spitfire, and who doesn't take shit from anyone. Man, the slow burn build up of Rafe and Violet's is driving me crazy! The sexual tension between these two is so thick and fucking hot, I find myself catching my breath. Whew!
I'm not gonna say any further but trust me when I say, just read this. Specially for those fans of dark with a dash of bully romance. And oh, Rafe is mine, LOL! #fightme
Loved this and the next book can't come soon enough!

I actually liked this book - it's overly dramatic and far fetched - but in addictive type of way.
The MC was bearable, a somewhat uncommon occurrence in books like this.
