Thank you, David Nicholls, for writing a book that’s somehow restored my faith in men, even if it’s only the fictional kind. What a journey this was, moving, clever, and quietly inspiring. I’ve never wanted to walk more, it’s left me dreaming of lacing up my boots and setting off on that trail myself.

This novel is beautifully written, with characters so vivid and endearing it’s impossible not to fall a little in love with them. Marnie, in particular, is a joy. Sharp, funny, and utterly human. She had me laughing out loud more than once and left me wishing she existed off the page.

The story unfolds with such gentle twists and turns, keeping you curious and ultimately its unputdownable. And that ending, hopeful, open, and slightly maddening. It was the perfect and perfectly infuriating, way to close the book.
