Henry Henry is queer, utterly fucked retelling of Shakespeare’s Henriad, set in 2014, where the main character Hal does too much cocaine, gets shot in the face, uses sex as self destruction and is horrifically abused.
The writing is brilliant, especially given the heaviness or the novel. I literally messaged my friend saying “can inc*st be well written? not in a sexual way in an oh god oh fuck way”.
The characters are terrible people, way too much lamb is consumed (is that a rich people thing?) and there is so much description of abuse but it made me feel awful which is just how I like my books tbh.
