I enjoyed this book a lot! I was drawn in by the cover and summary, but really it wouldn't have prepared me for the emotional journey it was going to take me on.

I did wish we got more time with George and Albert in the present time likeeee I need more. Besides that I loved the side/supporter characters with their stories. Especially for most of the female characters being so strong. But especially Nicole
especially when she stood up to Jaime! Like yes you go girl!!
Perhaps this next complaint isn't necessarily about the writer but about the character.  I do not think that
Albert had to talk some sense into Jamie! I get it though like Jamie probably wasn't thinking about how to solve the issue with his parent's pre dis-approval of his girlfriend. Like 😭 man like he did not consider having them meet or even trying to convince them to meet her or that they'd like her as he told Albert they would get along?? Anyways... I was just sort of caught up on that part, because I wanted to see if maybe they could solve it on their own. I guess I shouldn't be too harsh as Albert was doing this out of the goodness of his heart and wanted Nicole to be happy.

I do admit though, they were definitely some lines or parts of the story that I felt could have been worded better or omitted entirely. Because to me, they felt weird to have been included even with the context of the scene. Or it opened like a small door to another issue & then was just kind of briefly addressed and we moved on from it like it was nothing.

Nonetheless, I liked seeing the growth of the different characters. It definitely was slow in the beginning but once it picked up, I found it hard to not put it down. It was also tough to read about the traumatic past that Albert and George went through. Nonetheless reading about the past because it is important to the characters and really highlights how much has changed from then.

Too sad! Made it as far as chapter 7 and it just kept getting sadder and I’m not in the right headspace for a sad old man story even though I know it will get better

I have a list of gripes that is too long to write here. Would have DNF’d if this wasn a book club read.
