Tremendous, instantly sucks you in and makes you fall in love with every character. I’ll be thinking about Albert for a long time to come

I love this book. This should be a movie. It’s a coming of age story of a man well into his 60s and finally accepting who he is. It’s a story of long lost love, fear, regret, trust and acceptance. The journey takes you through serious self-reflection of who Albert is while he works on opening himself up to those around him - those that had been in his life for decades that he never got the opportunity to know because of his fear of rejection (a trauma that he never got over with when he made a decision early in his life). Albert spent almost 50 years of his life denying himself of the happiness that he deserved without realizing that the world around him had changed.

We’re all busy coloring ourselves in.

Oh how I love Albert Entwistle. What a beautiful story this was. Albert lives a life in solitude, protecting himself and guarding his secrets. Secrets which are revealed slowly, some of which brought me to tears. As he continues inching towards retirement, following his usual route as a postman, he finally makes the decision to slowly open up to the people he’s delivered mail to for years. That’s when his life begins to change.

I loved this book so much. There is some very real history woven through Albert’s story which only makes it more impactful.

Super cheesy but sweet and entertaining. Token inclusion, only ok writing.

What happens when you are faced with a huge life change and possibly have some regrets? In this case, the big change is retirement and, as one would guess, everything changes for Albert Entwistle as he moves toward retiring from his postal service job.

I adore this book! Such charming, likable characters and a touching story about love, community, and acceptance. I saw it compared to A Man Called Ove, and while I see the connection (older grumpy man brings joy into his life through his community) The Secret Life has more layers and moves at a nice pace to get to that joy a bit faster!

A very sweet story about a man sho is retiring from the post office and has finally admitted he was gay. The build-up was lovely but after the first half, it was just one word after the other to get to the eventual end.

DNF

Starts off slow but is a very adorable romance. Perfect for fans of T.J. Kune and anyone who believes in living life to your full potential as your authentic self! Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy!
