There are books you read once and move on from—and then there’s Credence. I finished this book and immediately wanted to dive right back in, like I’d just surfaced from something intense, raw, and maybe a little bit unholy. I loved this story. It’s messy. It’s hot. It’s emotionally unflinching. And I wouldn’t change a thing…except maybe who Tiernan ends up with. (Uncle Jake truthers, rise.

*has some spoilers

plot: this is abt a girl named tiernan and how her parents commit s**cide so she moves in w her uncle jake and his two sons noah and kaleb. they live in some weird ass town in the mountains in colorado where they like cant leave when it snows and like everyone is fucked up. every single character needed therapy tbh. she basically fucks all of them and somehow falls in love w kaleb.

tiernan was so fucking annoying sorry

i hated kaleb omg.

jake and noah were like fine but she deadass fucked her uncle and cousins. its step but still.

her and kaleb are in love somehow but like idk how bc he literally saed her tbh and a*used her but ok. they are lowkey both the most fucked up out of all of them so maybe it makes sense.

the smut was so good it saved this book. it was crazy, kinky, and weird, and probably wrong (very wrong), but it was rlly good so.

yeah the smut was the best part of this book i didnt even care abt the romance.

That was a lot and I don’t know how to process it. 1.25 ⭐️ only because some of my best comedic works came from me reading this book.

Subtitled: How to Emotionally Manipulate and Abuse a Minor in 8 Months.

There’s ✨ dark ✨ romance and then there’s… whatever this is.

I do not recommend this book. I wish I stuck to my initial DNF but curiosity over all the 5 star ratings won out. Surely there had to be some redemption or plot twist. Nope. It wasn’t worth it and it’s definitely not worth 5 stars, much less 1.

This book is like the Hunchback of Notre Dame except Esmeralda ends up with Frollo and he turns out to be somewhat of a decent human.

 - I thought we would be starting with Noah and moving up to Jake but OKAY LET'S START THERE I GUESS
- I love that Tiernan has practice at shooting and isn't just a prodigy. It's refreshing.
- Okay just end up with the dude who sexually assaulted you the minute you met and called you a slut multiple times regardless of the fact that he's also slept with multiple people. Not to mention he's also your cousin.

Quotes

-"'Reality is fickle, isn't it?' I ask. 'We can get used to almost anything.' We all acclimate. We learn, we resolve, we come around - it's not that anything really gets easier or harder. We just get better at rolling with it."
- "Kaleb has been punishing the world his whole life, almost like me. Unfortunately, the world moves on, and then it just becomes punishing yourself."
