This is the Reynolds I've always liked. I did NOT care for Absolution Gap, especially the sellout ending, but now we're back in the good place.

This is a sequel to a 2007 book that I barely remembered. It stands alone, but will be better if you've read The Prefect, and even better if you've read the other Revelation Space books.

Lots of nifty space-opera tech. Post-dead people. Aurora, who's beyond post-dead. People who can manipulate quickmatter. A plot that just nods to Brexit, and reminds us that there will be Trump-Farage-LePen demagogues even in the far future. And a decent police procedural as the spine of the story.

Good one.

Least favorite of the series. Still well written, decent performance in audio version by John Lee, but story was mediocre. If I didn't have a long and loving history with this series I'd have forgotten this book easily.
