Fetish box is a serialized novel in 3 parts, they must be read in order and all must be red to complete the story.

One of the opening lines in Fetish Box is "A virgin shouldn't own a sex shop" what a great premise to start a book with. Mary inherits The Fetish Box or The Box as the locals call it when the mother she had never met dies and leave it to her, along with a collection of unusual friends that are more like a family and a start to a new life.
Mary leads a journey of self discovery as well as a sexual awakening and finds love in the process, all the while dealing with a mystery attacker who has hurt her and her friends.

I loved the idea of this book, I liked the characters and felt they were pretty well developed if not fully explored in this format and length of book, I found the mystery/suspenseful element to be a bit predictable and it seemed almost an add in to create one more point of interest instead of being integral to the story. Some of the sex was well done and other parts felt a bit awkward and forced. Overall I liked the book, I liked the story it had great promise it just pans out as average however.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Having not read the first book in this series I went into this story with open eyes.

Basically you have a young woman, Mary, who has inherited a sex club due to her mum, who she didn't really know, dying and leaving it to her. From what I could gain from reading Part Two Mary meets both John, the Irish bar owner, and Max, her mums business partner in the club. She meets them both as soon as she arrives to claim what has been left to her and Immediately starts a sexual relationship with John, while lusting after Max.

The book begins with John introducing Mary to pain and pleasure through the act of sex. Almost straight after this Mary finds Max in the next room and he proceeds to have a sexual encounter with her also.

The book has a storyline involving robbery, and assault, at the club. It ends with a break in at Mary's house during which she escapes and runs into Max' arms.

I will be honest - I am a fan of erotica, and the parts of this book dealing with the erotic encounters are written well. However, the theory that a young woman, who has no sexual experience, would come to a strange town, meet people she has never met before and jump straight into bed with one of them while allowing another to have encounters of a sexual nature with her, just doesn't seem very likely to me.

The writing style is a bit uneven - perspectives switch back and forward numerous times within each chapter and it takes some concentration to follow it at times. I needed to double check to see who was actually being spoken about on several occasions.

This appears to be only one part of a story, I felt that Part One should have been read first to understand what was going on and get into the story. It feels too short to be called a book, and I would have liked to have seen this as a full book rather than shorter parts. Unfortunately I won't be rushing out to purchase either Part One or Part Three.

**ARC was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

The Fetish Box, Part Two: What Escapes starts off where the first novel ended. It’s so much hotter than the first. Lots of steamy and intense romance, and has a little more depth than Part One.

Someone wants to destroy the Fetish Box and is willing to hurt anyone who stands in the way. Mary just arrived a day ago and now her life has turned upside down. I was riveted from start to finish and just like the first part I want more. I can’t wait till part three. The only thing that I didn’t like about this book is that I have to wait to see what happens next.

Amanda’s feelings for John grow and Max is still the saucy and dangerous hot guy. As more characters join the book, its easy to see that they are close and protective of anything to do with Amanda’s mom.
Again, the erotica is not overly done, although, almost too casual, the plot is getting better and better as the tension and mystery grows.

It’s slightly shorter than the first and a good read, I could not put it down! There is a third part in this series, which I will definitely be reading, I want to know what happens next!!

Initial reaction: I have to be honest, the sensual encounters in this section of the story felt very contrived, and the sequencing/progression of events were quite odd. I can't say that I'll be continuing this series, unfortunately.

Full review:

Why do I give myself false hope? Why do I do it every single time with a series I hope might get better but doesn't? Even if it's an erotica series with pretty covers and plot lines that don't really make any sense, but the synopsis gives a promising impression?

No, I don't mean to be rude in this review, it's just that I'm very disappointed in what I've read with "The Fetish Box" thus far, and I think it's probably in my best interest to stop here. Which is a shame because this is a novel I probably would've endured had it not been a serial novel, had it featured a deeper POV set, and hadn't the whole scattered feeling of starting in an awkward place and ending in an awkward place with much of an awkward middle.

In other words, much of this series has been rather awkward. The first book I had issues with but I was at least willing to see what it would build to. This particular part of the story was just utterly ridiculous. "Breathtaking" this was not. I feel like I've yet to see more potential from Nicole Camden (and this is my first reads from her, so I'm not sure how that's going to fare in comparison for future reads. I'm really not opposed to trying something else from her in future considerations, but not this particular series. It just falls flat, and I don't think it's going to change in the third installment.)

So, we're back to exploring the relationship of Mary, John, and Max. Mary, when we last left off was/is a virgin who has her first time sex encounter in the sex shop that she inherited from her mother. I didn't really like the writing of the sex scenes here, I thought they were very sluggishly paced and it felt like the narrative didn't flow smoothly. The turns of events after that - which include a violent encounter against one of the shop's workers and an ending that made very little sense in its build-up really did no favors for keeping me intrigued in the novel for measures to come. I kept waiting for more development of the three characters, but it never came, just felt incomplete and implausible. The problem with a serial novel like this is that proper serial novels need to feel somewhat self contained, develop the characters within, and make sense with the continuation from one point to the next. You can't just cut off a story in the middle of one event and then expect a smooth transition to the next, they have to be separated in a way that gives fulfillment for one part and leads into the intrigue of another with some sense of logic. This portion of the serial novel doesn't do that at all. The story left me feeling more empty than having any kind of connection with the characters, rooting for their relationships, or just being invested in the sexy times going on in the duration.

It's difficult for me to recommend this, not just for the format of the novel in the way that it's presented, but also for the general portrayal of the story. I think if people are willing to do it, wait for the full novel to release instead of buying this part by part, because it might have more of a line to see where the ending point is, but unfortunately, I don't think the quality would hold up with a full story from what the two parts of this have indicated to me.

Overall score: 1/5

Note: I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, from the publisher Pocket Star.

The Fetish Box has been broken into and Mary has been “broken in”. Part two ends in a better spot then part one, but I cannot get there soon enough. If I was you I would wait till they compile all the parts into one binding.
