It’s too weird to be reading a smutty book about literal high school children

I really liked this one, it was full of heartbreak and hard times and I like how it ended. I will say I had a few moments of "well that's actually not love but codependency" but overall I love the way this author writes and I could easily over look it!

This was my first Mia Sheridan book, and I absolutely loved it! The story of two young lovers turned enemies, who later reconnect, completely captivated me. I adored the dual POV, and I craved every moment of Kyland’s yearning.

“You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope.”
AHHHHHHH!!! Sweet, sweet Kyland :’)
Beyond the romance, I loved the layers of complication and struggle in the characters’ lives. Even the minor characters left an impression—*cough* Buster *cough.* And characters like Shelly (ugh, my heart goes out to her), Jamie, and all the folks of the Appalachian mountains felt so real and memorable.
This book is heartbreaking, tense, and ultimately hopeful. The emotions… oh, the emotions. It explores the struggles of poverty and loss, but also selflessness and sacrifice. It isn’t just a YA romance—it’s about life, real challenges, and empathy, encouraging you to reflect deeply on how you live and consider others.
Overall, Kyland was a thought-provoking, bittersweet read that made me feel so much from start to finish. I did get a bit frustrated at times with sentences that felt unclear, but those moments were minor in comparison to the incredible story. Truly, it was a deeply moving and thoroughly enjoyable read!
