The plot was frustrating in the beginning. There was a lot of miscommunication and angst. Both kyland and tenleigh (not a fan of the names by the way) wanted more for each other and acted selflessly for the benefit of the other. I think they could’ve made better, honest choices together.
The time gap and second chance aspect in the second half of the book was better. If only because finally they were able to be truthful with one another.
I’ve really loved some of Mia Sheridan’s other books, but this one felt like it wasn’t as developed as some of her other books. The way she writes is still addicting though and even though I was frustrated with the plot, I was routing for these characters. I think the end had a beautiful message. If you want change you don’t always have to run away, you can be the change you want to see. Improve the world you live in and make it what you want it to be.

This was a good one. I love a good time gap trope and I liked that this one didn’t feel drawn out or boring.

I loved this story. But could Kyland have made better choices? I think he made the wrong choice for the right reasons.

Definitely doesn't top Archer's Voice, but I thought this was an interesting love story between Kyland and Tenleigh, both living in poverty and seeking to leave where they live by winning a scholarship for college. Couldn't help but feel my heart break as the two try to juggle their own chaotic lives and their developing feelings for each other.
