I expected to have my heart strings pulled bc it’s Mia Sheridan but I did not expect for this book to have such an effect on me. It has love, heartbreak, a plot twist I didn’t see coming and definitely makes you look at your life more closely. Reading about the little mining town of Dennville, Kentucky in the Appalachian mountains makes you realize how blessed you are to have a stable house to live in with food on the table. It’s humbling but remarkable how much the community relies on each other, and how much love and sacrifice impacts their lives.
If you’re looking for a heartfelt eye opening read that might make you shed a tear or two, give it a read!

Mia Sheridan never failed me...until this book.

Unfortunately, the relationship between the FMC and the MMC didn't work. At all. Did I feel the lust and attraction? Yes. But did I feel an emotional connection between them? Did I feel romance? Absolutely not. There was no spark.

We're told over and over they're so in love, but I never once felt it. Sure, they bonded over similar circumstances, but I never once believed the love story.
