This had so much potential - and it just didn’t get there in any way. It’s too long for what it is.

I loved Catherine Ryan Howard’s previous books. They give me that cozy murder mystery / thriller vibe if I can call that a vibe? But this one was a bit underwhelming. It just didn’t seem to add up to make a big impact like her last books. I will say I didn’t fully predict how it was to end so that’s always a plus.

Giving 5 stars for how much I enjoyed it but this was probably more close to 4.5 because the ending was a bit predictable…. But it was one of my favourite reads of 2022 ☺️

This was my second book by this author and I really did enjoy the read.

I love stories within stories, although at times this was a bit too confusing for me as there was 3 stories going on at one point and my brain was not working. 😄 It was a very quick read which hopefully has gotten me out of my slump.

I enjoyed the character of Adele and the author really made us empathise with the situations she found herself in.

I also really enjoyed the isolation and the setting of the forest, it was very creepy and I could really imagine I was there.

Overall a good wee thriller.

This was good! It’s very different for her, which I appreciated. Her story’s are all set in the same world, but the whole cast and setting felt more unique than her other books.

I thought the tension built well, we get totally drawn into her panic, it was too spooky to listen to at night for me.

The ending wasn’t super strong, but I wasn’t mad at it. I wanted it to be a little crazier, I predicted it a little earlier than I think the book intended.

Anyways, it’s a good time, not her best but still well done and additive.
