A love story taken straight from an Audrey Hepburn movie.
" 'The dating scene really does require the help of a specialist because the love Hollywood has given is is a lie. Everything I know about love I've learned from Hollywood. I've learned if you've never been kissed, go undercover as a reporter in a high school. If your best friend is a guy who is marrying someone else, sabotage the wedding. If you're an overworked doctor who doesn't make time for love, you'll probably need to go into a coma to find the one meant for you. The hotel maid only needs to steal clothes from one of the rooms to get the politician's attention. The famous actress just needs to find the guy with a blue door in Notting Hill. I know all these stories backwards and forwards. Movies teach us how to fall in love, how to have a first kiss, how to have a good fight and then make up afterwards. And because of Hollywood, I know how to break up.' "
As a fan of all romantic comedies and especially all things Hepburn, this was a book for me. I loved the romantic story between two coworkers-turned- friends, the inside look into the world of film editing, and Silvia's love of movies and her grandmother. My only complaint is the constant mention of her class eye. I'm not sure why it was such a big part of the story, and she kept taking it out and putting it back in - it seemed unhygienic.

Overall I enjoyed this book. Though friends to lovers is not one of my favorite tropes, I did enjoy watching the story unfold. However, it didn’t keep me quite as hooked at the first book in the series.

This book was so unique and I enjoyed every minute of it! I loved the characters and plot, and the romance was just perfect! Can't wait to read more from this author.
Can I just say how much I love Julie Wright?! This is the perfect beach book and I highly recommend it! I love Audrey Hepburn and this is a great tribute to her. If you like Audrey Hepburn movies or just admire the thoughtful person she was (after all how many Hollywood types really walk the walk when it comes to charities!), then this book is a definite read! Silvia is a film editor who works for a formerly brilliant film editor who has become jaded and a hasbeen. When the deadline for a film approaches, her cute former boss Ben shows up to save the day when her current boss is too drunk to sign off on the project. But, Ben has a former girlfriend with him. Silvia begins to realize that she and Ben really click and that she might have feelings for him but is it too late?
This story has sooo many great things about it. Silvia has a fake eye due to cancer as a child and is so endearing with her at times humorous take on life with one eye and as a cancer survivor. Ben is adorable and you can't help cheering for or as my daughter would say "ship" the two. There are secondary characters, one from a previous book, who are well written and not cookie-cutter in the least. It's a heartwarming, quick read with some twists and turns, and a clean fun romance! Highly recommend this!

I initially requested this book due to the cover and title along with reading a few lines of the description and boy am I glad I did. I really enjoyed the characters in this book and often found myself rooting for Silvia when it came to her life at work and her love life. The supporting characters did not disappoint either. I loved Silvia’s sassy grandma and the banter between her and Ben.
Anyone with an interest in movies will appreciate the little homages to movie lines and references scattered throughout the book.
I finished this book in two days and I really want to have an Audrey Hepburn marathon. I think Silvia would approve. Now if only I could invite her over to join me.
***I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.***

4.5 stars. A fun contemporary romance set in Hollywood! It was interesting to learn a little bit about the film editing process and terminology.

If I am honest, I only took this book because it was free. We all love free things right? It wasn’t until my friend pointed out that it was by the same author who wrote Lies Jane Austin Told Me, a book I recently read, reviewed and loved, that I became even more excited to read it.
Silvia has always loved Audrey Hepburn. So much so that when she lost her eye to cancer at the age of 5 she named her glass eye Audrey. Her love of Audrey is what drew her into the film industry. She worked and worked until she became a film editor at a well-known studio. The only problem is that her boss, Dean, is a drunken, lazy producer. She does all the work and gets none of the glory. Its beginning to wear on her. They are down to the wire with an editing job. Of course, her boss is gone out to a party and didn’t approve and help her finish the work. She takes Dean’s assistant and heads off to the party to retrieve him and get him to help finish the editing. While they’re looking for Dean she runs into an old friend, Ben, whom she used to work with at a different production company. Ben is her “what-if”. Ben ends up offering to help Silvia take Dean back to the office and sober him up. They get Dean back to the office but he passes out before they can get him sober. Silvia asks Ben to take a look at the film she is working on and let her know what he thinks. He loves the film but helps her tweak a few small parts of it. With his help, she manages to get the film done on time and without her boss’s. Her boss of course still gets all the credit for it. Will Silvia finally tell Ben how she feels about him? Will Silvia’s boss give her the recognition she deserves or will he throw her under the bus?
I loved this book. It flowed nicely and kept me turning the page wanting to find out what happened next. It was filled with “girl power”. In this day and age, with all that is going on in the world, it was awesome to see. I loved the fact that this book has an Audrey Hepburn under-tone just like the author’s last book had the Jane Austin under-tone. It took me a second to figure out that Silva’s best friend in this book was the main character in the Lies Jane Austin Told Me! I was absolutely thrilled about that! We got a slight peek into what has happened since that book ended. I liked the fact that Silvia wasn’t a perfect character. She was a work-a-holic and had survived cancer leading to her missing an eye. She wasn’t “miss everything is perfect and my life is perfect” that some books have as their main character. She had flaws and I could relate to that. I absolutely can’t wait to see what the author writes next.
