SCHWAB IS A GENIUS. Seriously, I’m one step away from chanting her name to the blood moon. The whole world just needs to know how great of a writer she is.

There is no denying that this series is now one of my all-time favourites even though it took me a long time to start reading this (reality interfered with my plans) it didn’t dampen the hype I’ve been feeling. This is still a powerful novel by an amazing talent. It has the drama, high stakes and suspense that you wanted. EOs are weird, at best maladjusted and at worst sociopathic people, and it shows. The new mix of unique, destructive powers and fast-paced action. As for the big thing: Schwab did it, she really did it even though I told myself it would never happen–she made me feel sympathy for Eli. I don’t know how, but it happened anyway. And there’s a good chance it’ll happen to you. ANYWAY, go read Vengeful yourself. It’s a hectic, hella cinematic ride!

"Maybe we are broken. But we put ourselves back together. We survived. That’s what makes us so powerful. And as for family—well, blood is always family, but family doesn’t always have to be blood."
This was, honestly, disappointing, as many books by VE Schwab are (for me that is), I had kept my hopes up too high for this book since I absolutely adored the first one.
I did not hate it nor did I love it, most of the characters I found annoying (except for Eli and Victor, I can never hate them<3).
"Some people were matches, a bit of light and no heat. And others were furnaces, all heat but little light. And then, once in a blue moon, there was a bonfire, something so hot and bright you couldn't stand too near without burning.

Marcella was a bonfire if ever June saw one.

Of course, even bonfires eventually went out, smothered by their own ashes."

Marcella was a fucking cartoon villain. I did not see her purpose in this story and just found her ultimately boring. June seemed interesting yet she really did not capture much of my attention.
And also,
WHAT DO YOU MEAN ELI DIED????
That was just so damn frustrating and sad.
"When you think about it, it’s really all anyone ever wants. Once upon a time, power was determined by lineage—the age of blood. Then it was determined by money—the age of gold. But I think it’s time for a new age, Victor. The age of power itself."
I don't have much else to say, the plot was simple, nothing complicated. The first book was definitely the best.
Live laugh love Victor<3
