No me gustan mucho este tipo de libros, así que ya os aviso de que no seré muy neutral. mientras leía le iba buscando fallos, esto es muy predecible, quien actúa así, esto no tiene sentido y muchas otras cosas. pero siendo sincera no he llorado por qué iba en un tren rodeada de gente cuando lo acabe. una historia emotiva, corta y rápida de leer que transmite un mensaje claro, quizás muy obvio, pero que de vez en cuando se nos olvida, las mujeres somos fuertes, estamos ahí y haremos lo que haya que hacer por nosotras, por nuestras familias y por la gente que queremos.
(lo dicho tiene cosas malas, no es el tipo de libro que me guste, era muy predecible, muy corto, podría estar mejor desarrollado, no ha habido nada de profundidad en los personajes, eran solo medios para contar la historia, pero eso, la historia en si es buena y muy emotiva)

Prima debuut van Laetitia Colombano. "La tresse" vertelt het verhaal van drie vrouwen, op drie continenten, geconfronteerd met uitdagingen die het leven hen voorschotelt. Wat eerst lijkt op drie aparte verhalen, blijkt uiteindelijk een ontroerende vertelling te zijn waarin de levens van de drie dames meer met elkaar vervlochten zijn dan eerst lijkt. De personages hadden misschien wat meer uitgediept mogen zijn, maar het boek leest als een trein; je wordt echt meegezogen in de levens van de dames en pas naar het einde toe vallen de puzzelstukjes in elkaar. Mooi geschreven.

While I enjoyed reading this book and the overall concept of three connected strands, I did feel that there was an imbalance in character development. This, of course, might be something that was lost in the translation of the novel from French to English. Still worth reading for the clever use of the braid as metaphor throughout the interconnected stories of these three women.

Una historia preciosa (tres historias en realidad que se trenzan) que me ha cogido en un momento personal complicado. Tres mujeres fuertes que afrontan y enfrentan las dificultades que la vida les presenta.
Beautifully written novel of the plight of three women, representing the struggles of women in different cultures. Giulia must take over her father’s factory, while keeping a relationship secret. Smita is working hard to make a life for her daughter, Lalita, a life different from hers as a lower caste woman in India, cleaning up other’s excrement. Sarah is a high powered Montreal lawyer who is facing the fallout from her diagnosis. All three women exhibit remarkable strength. Highly recommended.

Me ha gustado la historia, aunque la manera de ecribirla no ha sido mi favorita. Una lectura entretenida para la playa que me he devorado en dos días.
Algunas veces se enrolla mucho en un mismo tema (sobretodo con Sarah) y otras veces salta muy rápido en el tiempo. Me hubiera gustado que la historis fuera más despacio. En fin ha estado bien.

This was a quick and enjoyable read! I really liked the concept of following the (loosely) interconnected stories of three women on three continent. Each of them is bravely facing an existential crisis: Smita is fighting for a better life for her daughter, Giulia is fighting to save the family business and Sarah is fighting cancer and workplace discrimination.
However the characters felt quite clichéd and the individual stories were so fast-paced, I never got a chance to root for the protagonists! So, this is one of the rare instances, in which I'd recommend waiting for the movie :)
