descriptionThis is one hell of a sexy cover. Great representation of the two heros. Great composition. Eye catching title. I love it.description

descriptionThis was a super enjoyable book. Well written. It had a nice pace to it. Some twists and turns. Some hot sex scenes. Two likable main characters. No real angst or relationship drama. It was almost perfect.

Two things kept this from being a perfect read for me. One, I thought the plot was a little underdeveloped overall. Two, the ending felt REALLY rushed. Those two small issues aside this one was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.description

This one wasn't exactly what I expected - it's so much more. Two tough guys, both alpha in their own right, meet under intense circumstances. Let the fun begin. Both Kit and Will have their own agenda and valid reasons for their actions. I was a bit confused at the beginning, but once things come together, it all made sense. Enemies like You is intense, steamy, and gripping. It's well-written and drew me in rather quickly.

Not enough book!

I wanted this one to go on and on, it wasn't anywhere near long enough to fulfil the craving I had for Kit and Will.

The story starts at chapter nine, the first eight are in the free prologue, if I'd have known that I'd have just started with this one but never mind.

I guessed half of the mystery right but not the other big plot reveal and I love it when that happens. The mystery spy element of the book was well done, I loved all the twisting and turning through the different encounters.

I also liked the alternate viewpoints and changing use of English depending on whether the voice was English or American, a nice affectation.

I want my own Kit. I loved the duality of his character and the so very proper way he went about his undercover work, it was a clever twist.
Will was a delight, honest and driven but willing to bend and twist into something else. Their dynamic together was beautiful and the sex scenes worked brilliantly as moments of intense emotion in a sea of spy cool.

Now I'd like a series of the Kit and Will spy files please as they go off round the world putting the bad guys down or a series of Kit the Bohemian artist with Will rolling his eyes as he models for another Greek myth..

Rival spies? International Intrigue? Rival gay spies? SOLD.

Title: Enemies Like You
Author: Joanna Chambers
Series: Enemies with Benefits
Genre: MM Romantic Suspense

Plot Summary:

Will is a former soldier seeking revenge on the man who sold the information that got his men killed - he will do absolutely anything to kill Polzin. Luckily, the CIA is willing to use him for that exact reason - because every other person they sent gets killed by Polzin’s mysterious bodyguard that no one has ever seen.

I read this article about black holes in outer space once. Scientists can’t see them, and there’s not even a test for them. But they know the black holes are there because all the shit around them keeps disappearing.
That’s Polzin’s bodyguard for you. A man you can’t see. A man who makes people disappear.

Kit has sacrificed vital pieces of his identity - and his soul - to protect Polzin. He has his own secrets, his own reasons, and nothing has ever made him question them - until Will. Kit needs to step up the pace of his own mission before he has to make a choice between success and Will. Because for the first time in years, he isn’t sure what his choice would be.

Comments:

This was very different from a lot of things I have read lately - I loved the concept of a MM Romantic suspense with an international spy theme - I mean come on, how can you not want to at least TASTE that?!? But it was more than just hot spies going it at. It has a good romance plot line - a little underdeveloped in the beginning (just a bit insta-attraction, nothing major). But the intrigue was off the charts. Particularly Kit’s background. With Will, what you see is what you get, but Kit is the unplumbed depth here. I feel like I can’t say too much more without giving things away, but I STRONGLY encourage you to read this. I will be avidly awaiting the next one, and will look at other things this author has written.

Favorite Quote:
I’ve met quite a few men like Will over the years, men driven by some deep, festering thing inside them. I’ve seen the look in their eyes when you try to reason with them—that look that shows they don’t hear you or see you or even know that you’re there. They just keep on going. Whether it’s drink, bullets, whatever, they just keep stumbling forward, hearing only their demons. You can’t save a man who doesn’t want to be saved. Or thinks he can’t be.

I would highly recommend reading [b:Enemies with Benefits|34949954|Enemies with Benefits (Enemies with Benefits, #0.5)|Joanna Chambers|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1493068648s/34949954.jpg|56277587] first and then delving into this hot as sin book. Will and Kit are both on a mission. Different goals but involving the same person. They meet over and over again, and instead of getting rid of each other they succumb to the intense attraction between them. This book had a nice suspense element to it but the starring attraction was Will and Kit's developing relationship. Two seemingly different men, who shouldn't be attracted to each other at all, working in tandem with one another was swoon worthy stuff. I like this writing duo and look forward to reading more books by them.

Started out very strong but the last third really doesn't deliver on the setup. Probably because the romance works better than the suspense plot and that part is pretty much wrapped up at the end of act 2. All in all, the book is a fun read, but it could have been so much more.
