I give it a 5 because of the message. Very good message, especially for YA.

This is a heavy read. Lei was slightly frustrating as a character mostly because she had a tendency to think and act in the moment and not think long term.
Wren was a good balance to this and I loved them together.
I will be interested to read the next book!

I just want my sweet traumatized sapphics to be okay!!!

This did not hold up to 14 year old me’s memory but I did enjoy it and I will be continuing with this series to see what happens!! I’ll always hold a special place in my heart for this being the first sapphic book I intentionally picked up.

One major gripe: the writing fell flat for me. I felt like there were a lot of moments that were meant to be impactful, but just didn’t translate and came off as cliche instead.

I really enjoyed the romance and most of the characters. Although, I do wish there were more distinct personalities in the Paper Girls other than Wren and Lei.

For a book so heavily tied to themes of sexual assault, it still managed to be tinged with hope and a righteousness that I truly admire. I really can't wait to see where everything goes!

This book I think handles heavy and hard topics but does it well and with respect for those situations. There is abuse on page, but it does not go into graphic detail.
I appreciate the book and author for the handling of these situations

So I did like it. The romance between the main characters is wonderfully written and I love them. I love the concept and the world of this book. The issue I have with it is that it’s a bit boring and repetitive at times. From other reviews, I’ve heard that the second book is even worse with that so I don’t think I’ll be finishing this series.
