Well this book took me by surprise! After not really enjoying the first book, the second book totally redeemed the story for me!

We start with Thia traveling by sea to go meet the other kingdoms to align everyone together against Razel. All the way, she works and trains her Crow, Res, to help him develop his abilities more, especially with war on the horizon.

I enjoyed the second book this time because the first book was a little lackluster for me, and I also really did not like Caylus! I didn’t think their relationship was believable, it wasn’t romantic. The second book proved me right and that ended, however they remained friends, which made much more sense! With both of them suffering from depression and PTSD, it felt like the relationship would not go well.

The second book also was pretty much non stop action through the entire story! So, it kept me at the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next.

I loved seeing Thia, who suffers from depression, never give into it. There were a few times where she started to feel the dark thoughts coming and she made herself push those thoughts away. It helped she had friends who really would not allow her to become depressed...Kiva

This book was fantastic. The characters were well rounded and the pacing of the book fit well with the story line.
The only thing that wasn't to my liking was the two short stories at the end. They could have used more work. That is just my opinion. I don't think they lived up to what they could have been.

What happened here?? :(

I adored The Storm Crow, I could see that story going in so many directions, I wished for at least 5 more books.

Then came The Crow Rider and what did we get? Politics. More politics. Sad people. More politics. A sad crow. Politics. A very very forced romance without the slightest spark. Oh and politics!

Meh :(

So fun! I love the world building and obvi the crows are epic. I enjoyed the aro coming out scene immensely and god if I’d gotten to read that in middle or high school I might have made a lot less mistakes. The friendship is so heartening and the familial bonds are complex but loving.

This was amazing. The plot was great, Ericen’s redemption was handled well. I enjoyed the banter between everyone and Res. Res is the cutest ever.

The ending was unexpected and great. I enjoyed all the romances and while I was disappointed that one character seemed to be thrown away because he was in the way of the romance, i am glad he did get a happy ending.

There seemed to be a hint of some more trouble ahead so i wonder if there might be a novella on that.

3.5 ⭐

A solid end to the duology, however I did have higher hopes based on the first book. The plot was slightly meandering but came together in the end. Overall it was entertaining, fast-paced, and a light fantasy read.
