I had heard this book was the weakest in the series. I wasn’t sure what that was going to entail. But I think I found out why. About the first 30% of the book is Jamie and Charlotte having (sexual) tension that I never felt was fully explained (and it’s only been two months since I read the first one, so I feel like I should remember why they’d be upset with each other). A lot of the arguing between the two was never explained and sometimes I couldn’t understand how scenes were evolving the way they were. And that’s also the same thing for the way the mystery was solved—maybe I was reading too fast—but it felt like everyone was expecting another character to know what they were thinking so they didn’t fully explain what was going on. Which would be what happens in real life, but maybe I just need a bit of hand leading in that moment.

I don't have a really long review to write for this one. I don't think I absorb enough while listening to books to write a review. I will say that I enjoyed this one more than the first book, and am hoping the third carries that torch.

Really good mystery. Not as good as book one. The ending left me hating most of the characters.

I had fun, y'know? Ran around a little with Charlotte and Jamie, got to meet a few Moriarty's. Hope to do it again some day.
