Not quite as great as the holiday trilogy, but still very good.

I won this through a Goodreads giveaway.

This is a pretty unique method of experiencing a graphic novel. Some of the illustrations are not ideal for coloring due to the thickness of the black lines, but it is still a creative medium.

Hmmm. The plot has potential. I’m definitely going to read volume two, but I’m irritated with how the women are drawn so seductively. It’s such an irksome aspect in comics. Also: Superdog sniffing out Poison Ivy? Talk about lazy writing.

Me encantó.

It's maybe unfair to rate/review this book before reading the entire series, but I think that it's fair and responsible to share how I feel after the first read. This book is doing some wonderful things, but also some very odd, seemingly inconsistent things. On the plus side, I really enjoy this art, and appreciate this visual version of Catwoman. This version has gone on to appear in the Arkham City game, and it is the most practical, but still sexy version of her. I also like Batman's weakness over her. Finally, he is struggling (though quite heavy-handedly) with being a lone wolf. He's understanding his weaknesses and learning the strengths of having help in the form of Oracle, Catwoman, Alfred, Tommy, Superman, and (ridiculously) Superdog. Good stuff.

On the other hand, the cramming of characters in the comic is beginning to seem silly. Superdog is stupid without explanation. At this point, the story seems like it is right at the point that if another character is added, the glass will overflow. Given the pace of this story, I don't see how more won't be added. The tension with Tommy is now enough to carry the rest of the story, but I don't see the story letting off the throttle. Especially when The Joker is always a possibility. I want to like this story more, because it is highly regarded, but right now I only like it enough to read volume 2.

I'm absolutely loving this arc.
