Training camp continues! Karasuno is getting stomped by the other teams. With the change in their gameplay, they are struggling to find a rhythm for their games. Kagayama and Hinata are still not talking, which is only making the team flail about in disarray even more. How are they going to advance in the Spring Tournament, when they can’t even win a game at training camp?
This volume follows the team during the remainder of training camp. They are awful. They are struggling to make their new plays work, and with the discord between Kagayama and Hinata, the struggle is worse. When they aren’t playing games, though, the guys all practice with their new buddies, and as the other teams’ players give them tips and help them hone their techniques, things slowly start to come together as a team.
My favorite aspect of the training camp was the interaction between all of the players. Hinata makes friends with several players from other teams, and he badgers them relentlessly, Hinata-style, to train with him. Even aloof Tsukishima finds himself drawn into additional practice, at first against his will, but then because he has found a new love for the game. While this volume wasn’t as nail-biting as some previous installments, it was fun to see the guys connect with the other players and learn to become a more cohesive unit. Spring Tournament starts in the next volume, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the guys do.

2021 may still be a mess, but I started watching Haikyu and I’m freaking loving it. Thanks to Petrik Leo for convincing me to pick this up. I was worried I wouldn’t enjoy the manga as much as the anime, but honesty, it’s just as good.
If you’re anime/manga fan and want something fun but will still hit you in the feels, I highly recommend. 10/10 for my owl king
