I was under the impression that this would be an adventure which takes place at the depths of the oceans. Didn't realize 20,000 leagues would be 80,000 ft which is more than the diameter of the earth. Sometime during the mid of the novel figured out that they are talking about the distance covered and not the depth. So that was a downer.

The novel has some amazing characters in Pierre , Ned and the iconic captain Nemo. I really wish they had some more chapters with character development and the aspirations of Captain Nemo.

I hate to rate things so low. It was definitely a book of its time, an adventurous story with a focus on teaching geography and all sorts.
I only found the last quarter of the book engaging. Before that, I struggled to keep myself awake after reading 8 or more pages. Not even an exaggeration. It was a hard time.
