so unique - so perceptive. another one to reread as we sink further into the real life dystopia that we find ourselves in. grateful for this. good read to remind yourself that despite all the darkness, people will always strive for beauty and creation. even if there’s no hope of survival.

Who are the mysterious They? Why do they do what they do? A short book with a lot packed into it.

I think I might have enjoyed this more reading a hard copy, especially considering stellar GR reviews from readers I deeply trust and admire!
I suspect I just didn't respond to the narrator's style. I found myself drifting from the narrative, then felt lost from around halfway.
I might give this another go at a later date.

An interesting collection of stories /fix-up novel. (Not a term I'd heard before.)
I found myself reading every chapter as though it was a new narrator, like each story was told by a similar person somewhere else in the country where this is set. That helped me tie each part together. You're introduced to new characters and a different angle of the story line with every chapter. It's quite impressive to be able to write that without it being confusing. I found the world building and scene setting very enjoyable and I will read this again.
