Catherine is a lady after my own heart. She is a heroine in training who is obsessed with her books while her parents worry about her finding a husband. This is a story of love, friendships, and social intricacies. Never having left her home, she must navigate the adventure of a lifetime and set off to become a true heroine.
I found myself laughing and smiling during this read. Maybe it's one of my favorite Jane Austen books, too.

Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey follows non-stereotypical heroine Catherine Morland as she visits Bath for the season, and meets a friend and unfortunate suitor in Isabella and John Thorpe, and a friend and fortunate suitor in Eleanor and Henry Tilney. Eleanor and Henry invite her to stay with them at Northanger Abbey, and as she has recently gotten into reading gothic fiction, she is really looking forward to this. She gets a bit too excited about her gothic fantasies, but is still able to enjoy her time there and become closer to both Eleanor and Henry. My favourite character was Catherine and my least favourite character was either General Tilney or John Thorpe. I recommend this book if you like gothic literature, classic literature, romance, or satire. I wish the ending had been a little less rushed, though, and we heard more about Isabella and James as well as Catherine and Henry. ‘There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.’
