I was a bit disappointed that asexual and non-binary people were kinda left out most of the time

I picked up this book because it has been frequently challenged and I wanted to see for myself the reported explicit sexual content (

'This book is gay' By: James Dawson (June 2015)

Okay, lets start with the things that I didn't like about this book:

I didn't like how Dawson barely talked about anyone of a sexuality other than LGT (Lesbian, gay, trans). He said that this book was for anyone, but it seemed like his target audience was really someone of LGT nature.

Now that we have that out of the way, lets talk about what I liked:

Dawson's writing style is one of the main reasons that I liked this book so much. This came as a surprise to me because I've never read a nonfiction piece of literature before and liked it. Dawson offered a refreshing tone to the already great book.

Overall this book was very informative and interesting. I give it 4/5 stars and recommend it to anyone that wants to learn about the LGBT community or anyone in the community.

Reading this in 2024 it is expected that in 10 years things would progress. Overall this is a great introduction for being queer for people. If you were reading this to support a queer person in your life it would be helpful for you to learn about queer culture, but it doesn’t give a script for you how to support someone coming out. There are some outdated terms. It was also confusing on audiobook because the vignettes from people didn’t stand out from the narrative until after their story finished.
