2.5⭐️ Just meh. Idk who was more of an ass, Charlotte or Cecil.
Lovely, tender, romantic, funny, and grounded in a heartfelt appreciation for humanity with our silly faults and foibles. While I would have loved just a tad more build up of certain aspects and scenes, the overall experience of reading this was so good. I enjoy Forster’s prose so much (perhaps excepting when certain characters’ dialogue, such as the Emersons, gets just a bit high flown and abstract). His narrator’s voice is a good balance of earnest regarding people being people, and cutting of English societal norms. I love when the characters very subtly reveal vital aspects of their inner worlds … this book is just very well suited to my tastes!

Some good moments but I just didn’t care about the posh knob characters or plot. Probs was very fresh and different when it was first written, but in 2023 I just don’t care!
