I really enjoyed this novel, more than I thought I would. It was fast-paced and suspenseful. The setting of drug-torn, deprived Haiti also added to the plot development with sub-plots of voodoo adding interest as well. I will definitely be reading other books by Nick Stone.

Creepy. Creepy crimes. Creepy characters (outside of, possibly, dead wives--no one is untainted). Good suspense. Interesting plot twists. Set in Haiti with some recent history background and a feeling for the hopeless poverty of most of the population. Some information on voodoo practices and believes.

One of my Top 10 of 2006.

An outstanding first novel with some truly terrifying moments, the perfect mix of crime, thriller and suspense with a dash of the supernatural.
