This was the first book I have read by Michelle M. Pillow. I have been following the new genre of Paranormal Women's Fiction and I am making my way through all 13 books written by the founding members.

Goodreads defines a 3 star review as "I liked it" and that is truly how I felt about this book. I thought the double life lived by the deceased husband was a good element and I enjoyed the drama surrounding the funeral. When Lorna moves it seems strange that she is somewhat estranged from her children. For me this made the main character lack depth. Also, the romance between Lorna and William seems forced. They have such a deep love for each other and never really go on the first date. I thought there should be more development in their relationship.

However, I loved the magical story line. The friendship Lorna cultivates with Heather and Vivian is entertaining and exciting as they discover their powers together. I am looking forward to see where this series evolves.

Wonderful

This book certainly starts with a bang! A great story highlighting the benefits of true friends and supporting each other’s uniqueness.

I enjoyed this book, which is one of the new releases under the Paranormal Women's Fiction genre, but I had some issues with it. The main sticking point for me was that it was a bit insta-love. Heroine moves to a new town to get away from bad memories and is instantly smitten with the first man she meets. The relationship didn't feel particularly deep and meaningful, there was no build up, not getting to know each other just wham, bam, I love you.
There were also loose ends that weren't tied up, but there are more books to come so perhaps they'll be dealt with then.
I will continue with the series, I need to really hate a book to abandon a series once I've started, but I hope to find a little more depth in the next installments.
adventurous funny lighthearted mysterious fast-paced

Second Chance Magic by Michelle Pillow is another book in the Paranormal Women's Fiction by the FAB13. So far I've read Sucks to be Me and Wrong Side of Forty. Second Chance Magic fits in that group well with characters that are in their forties and finding themselves again after something big comes and shakes up their life. In the case of Second Chance Magic and Lorna Addams, that very big thing is that her husband dies. Bad enough, right? Now imagine that at the funeral, you find out that your husband of twenty years and the father of your two children had another wife! It's no wonder that Lorna needed a fresh start.

Excellent

New-to-me author Michelle Pillow really delivers a solid entry in the new PWF genre. Smart, strong, mature women bonding and learning about their magic abilities definitely is my new favorite genre.

This book is dang near perfect. The characters are relatable. The dialogue is like my own real life friends. The story moves quickly without feeling rushed.

I appreciate the power of women to bond and support each other over their pasts without needing the whole backstory.

This is a wonderful story! I am not a huge fan of witches but the way this one comes about is good! It didn’t bother me. I was so invested in the actual characters that when the witch stuff came around? It fit right into the story seamlessly. This one revolves around Lorna. She gets gob smacked with news at her husbands funeral. She moves and meets some new girls. Heather and Vivian befriend her and we learn a bit about them as well. Enter William...Heathers brother. The relationship between William and Lorna is sweet and adorable. These two together are great.

I am assuming the other stories In this series will showcase the other two women’s stories. I did listen to this on audio. Rebecca Cook is the narrator. She does a good job.

Lorna thought losing her husband was grief enough. Then she was made a laughingstock when it turns out her husband was a bigamist - and was the other woman! With her children starting college she moves to Freewild Cove to escape the gossip.

With a new job and flat over the cinema, it may not be much but it's all she needs for now. She has made friends with her employer Heather and gets a bit tongue-tied over William, her boss' brother. She is NOT going there no matter how hot he is. Then Heathers friend Viv crashes into her life and she now has more friends than she has ever had!

But just as she settles into her new life, she and her friends find mysterious rings and new magical talents and seem to have called on a very disgruntled and horrible late husband!

Just goes to show alcohol and magic should not mix LOL. I loved the slow burn to start with William. Never expected Mr Orderly to be oh so naughty! I loved the way they were all linked by loss of some sort and just helped each other through it - no backbiting, no malicious thoughts - just good will and a firm belief in each other.

What is in store for Viv and Heather???

A nice fluff read. I bit predictable but enjoyable.
