I listened to this as an audiobook on Audible. The narrators were not my favorite, especially the one for Miles. Overall, I really enjoyed the story even though the characters made me want to pull my hair out sometimes. Def the spiciest CoHo book I’ve read so far. I say it all the time, but I think if you go into a CoHo book blind, you’ll enjoy it better.
fast-paced

I don’t think it’s the best writing but it kept me entertained

This book wasn't at all Ugly, but it was not as beautiful or as captivating as what of other Mareng Colleen’s books were, however this is such an achievement as what have read at the acknowledgement, this is her 8th book. Impressive.

Let’s start with the setting, Miles being a Pilot is an immense turn on, I only know one pilot and he’s such a nice lad.

Anyway, Miles six years ago was irritating, or at least how he.., thinks things? I don’t know, the idea the way his POV was written made me question if is it really how Miss Hoover really wanted to do things. Yes, I doubted her, sorry but you’ll get over it. The thing is, I wasn’t getting it.  It kind of reminded me of Walt Whitman’s style in poetry, because a lot of times, it doesn’t have many sense, doesn’t even rhyme or completely out of context, and he’s one of the best ones I know. I’m saying this because almost the entire chapters of Miles’ POV were like that, it was a slow phased theme and it got me tired. I mean, yeah, I got Slammed, I love Slammed because of the poetry, on how it was incorporated but I feel like this would have been better without it. The entire time I am on his POV, I get sucked in, the longer it was, the more I feel of Miles’ intensity and how everything is flowing flawlessly and then we switch to Tate’s POV and the style entirely changes. Then again almost at the end, it changed to a normal way then, BAM! It back again. Ugh.

You know I love poetry girl, but I’m tellin yah, when I want to read a damn straight book, I would appreciate a goddamn straight book.

The story was cool, I actually appreciate the side characters more than the main ones, I specially loved Corbin. I might have swooned a little when he was overly protective of Tate. ;)
Speaking of Tate, yes, I think she might be the first of Miss Hoover’s female characters that I like, (give me a minute) Yes. She is the first one. She’s different, maybe because she was older or something? Or maybe she already know what she wants in life and she’s already there, making her wants happen, with her job and school, she totally is. Or maybe because of Corbin. ;)

And has anyone of you noticed how Miss Hoover likes staring contests? I did, I looked back on her other books and was candidly giddy that I noticed it. I don’t mind, I like staring contests. ;)

♾️⭐️

i can’t forget the first time i saw this book and decided to read it. probably the best choice of my life, or the worst one, who knows? from the first second this book entered my heart, i felt it. i felt every possible emotion a human being can feel. it was so bittersweet, so fully lived i can’t even explain it. this book made me feel overwhelmed, aching and in a deep state of pain. it made me feel hopeful and hopeless, so empty but completely full at the same time. it took every little inch of my heart and squeezed it to make me feel every possible emotion on this earth, and most of all, love. this is the first book that gave something to my heart, something irreplaceable. this is the book i’ll remember forever.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover. So many people have told me about this book that I really wanted to hop on the trend and read it! My local library had about 15 people waiting for it!

Regardless of all the hype and wait list this was not my favorite due to the utterly toxic relationship it portrays between Tate and Miles. If my daughters read this book and thought that it was ok to be like Tate and stay in that relationship I would be absolutely horrified. I understand that that’s probably the point of the book due to the title but still… not my cup of tea. I did enjoy the back story of Miles and Rachel and the ending absolutely pulled on my heart strings and made me slightly more sympathetic towards Miles. However it wasn’t enough to excuse all of his toxicity and left me unable to romanticize anything between him and Tate.

every single thing about this book was devastatingly heartbreaking in the most beautifully composed way. please read it

This book bounces between the past and present day. Dives in the world of high school love/lust. Emotions just seemed so much more heightened back then. Present day battles with what a person thinks life should be and are more closed off and scared to fully feel. This was a quick read. Loved Cap, he was my fav character. Spoiler:
I’m a sucker for a happy ending
