This book was a great time. It is a fun romance with plenty of dark themes. James is a rich socialite college student whose family rejects her love of being an artist because it is not lucrative and she leaves the glamorous life to pursue her dreams. She has to get a job to survive and pay for school, so she finds a serving job at Orso, where she meets Ozzy. Ozzy is a hard-working career chef who is passionate about cooking and creating. His family has plenty of dark secrets and a bad reputation and he deals with this throughout the story. Ozzy and James become entangled in steamy moments as they work through trauma, discover who they are, and avoid their feelings while doing so.
Both the MMC & FMC were likeable and added to the story. I actually really loved how the author processed some of the traumatic experiences that both of the main characters endured. The writing was good and though more of a character-driven story about the healing journey of the characters, this book is incredibly
spicy! I usually skip spice when I feel it’s over used, but the author blended the spice with character growth, which kind of blew me out of the water. Would read more from the author again.
Recommend this especially for my current or ex-restaurant staff! I was triggered by all of the throwback terms and experiences (especially serving nightmares - they’re real ya’ll)

This totally gave me The Bear vibes and I loved that ! Was routing for James and Ozzy all the way! Loved the found family. May never look at a Snickers the same again lol and loved how he worships her curves and all
Yes! This storyline was unique and the characters were unforgettable, and holy spice "Yes Chef!"
Ozzy -- this man holy moly! Ozzy is a line cook with a hard up bringing, he’s self destructive to a fault, laid back and on the exterior a bit of a playboy but underneath it all a caring, sweet and deep person. Absolutely love his monologue about James and how he felt towards her. He falls first and he falls HARD!
James is the kind of girl you’re rooting for from the jump. To the outside it seems James has everything but underneath she has massive emotions about everything she has gone through at the hands of someone who should love her and only want the best for her. She had to learn a new way of life and it definitely wasn’t easy for her but she never gave up or gave in.
And the spice — HOLY MOLY! Snickers bar, her birthday party and car in the rain

This book was incredible. I'm warning you now to please check you trigger warnings with this book. It handles topics such as drinking, drugs, alcohol abuse, being arrested, hospitals, abandonment, lots of specific explicit scenes, but also rape, cheating, toxic relationships, narcissistic abuse from parents and partners, emotional and verbal abuse (none of which is between the fmc and mmc) and I probably forgot some things so please be mindful going into this book.
That being said, being in an abusive relationship myself as a teenager watching James go through the same things was like looking in a mirror. It was so relatable and real I thought I wasn't going to be able to handle it, but I'm so glad I pushed through t because I genuinely enjoyed this book so much.
Tropes: he falls first; he falls harder; touch her and die; found family
