I didn't expect to like this better than the classic movie, but this was actually funny. And it was written over a hundred years ago. I don't usually go for stuff that old, but Baum knew what he was doing. This also reads so much like a classic JRPG that I had to go google if there was a Wizard of Oz JRPG out there...and there actually is, for the Nintendo DS. I'm sure nobody actually bought it.
The scarecrow was my favorite in this version. I also liked how short it is, despite its page count. I could probably whip through this whole series in a week if I set my mind to it!

WOW!!! Drastically different than the movie. I am so glad I read this book. L. Frank Baum had a great imagination and I loved the way he told this story. The movie is fantastic in its own way and so I am happy with both the outcomes. Usually I am disappointed in one or the other. What a nice surprise.

A classic that I had never read the full original version, just the watered down kids one. Obviously a very quick and easy read being a child’s chapter book. But it’s so different from the movie (which is my all time favorite movie) and I liked it a lot!
