Great for storytime! "Dog wants to play. When? Today!" Dog asks all kinds of animals on the farm to play in this rhyming story full of repetition. All the animals say no, but in the end a little boy says yes. Cute, cuddly art.

This is a good beginning reader book.

A sweet little book for toddlers with simple, repetitive phrases.

The pictures are wonderful; as the dog asks animals to play with him and they decline for their own [rhyming] reasons, he gets more and more despondent until he finds the right playmate. The pictures are uncluttered, so it's easy to play "Where's the cat?" or "Where's the ball?"

Simple story about a dog looking for someone to play with. I found it a bit too repetitive to be fun reading, but my 3 yo enjoyed knowing what the next phrase would be. "Mama, I read!"
