I loved the writing style, very poetic. filled with dark humor and beautiful prose. Janet is a misunderstood witty character who turns to literature, language, and animals to find comfort in a confusing world. Barker does a wonderful job of portraying what it’s like to be a misfit in a family that doesn’t understand you and the essence of girlhood
