This book was a great read for me. Set in Baton Rouge we follow thirty something Chloe as she has her life completely turn upside down when young girls start to go missing again. Twenty years earlier Chloe's life was put in the public eye when her father was arrested for a series of murders. Since then she has been trying to move on and form relationships with people that want to get to know her. I had a suspicion early on who was the responsible party but the author did a great job of making me unsure and giving many other people that could be the culprit. I really liked and would it recommend it. I listened to the audio and thought it was well done.

I didn’t see Cooper being the bad guy at all. I am kind of confused on Aaron/tyler..

This book is told from the perspective of Chloe. She is a psychologist with her own practice. When she was 12, girls go missing in her town, and her father confesses to their murders after Chloe comes across evidence in their home. As the 20 year anniversary approaches, girls start to go missing again. Chloe can’t help but be drawn into the search for the reason why.

This book was definitely a page turner. It reminded me of Girl on the Train for many reasons. The narrator is sometimes unreliable due to drugs/alcohol so it makes the reader question if what is happening is reality or fantasy. I felt like once I was 100 pages in, there was a surprise at the end of every chapter forcing me to read the next one.

I will say that my very first hunch was correct, but I had many theories about what happened as I read the book. I was disappointed at the end that I wasn’t as shocked by the ending as I wanted to be. I also really wanted her father to be a more active character in the story in the present tense, but that didn’t happen. I felt like a conversation with her father would have been a great addition to the book.

I also can’t ignore the MANY plot holes in the story, and I felt like somethings were not closed (the story line with her mother for example).

Despite the plot holes and some lack of closure, I still gave this book 4 stars because I genuinely enjoyed reading it. It was an interesting plot, and I didn’t feel bored at any part. It would have been five stars if there was maybe a different twist or a conversation with her father.

4.5 stars! Could not put it down for the last half
